Carado replacement crank for 1986 clad casement windows

A home owner from Weddington, N.C. says:
We have 1986 carclad casement windows. I am sending photos of the broken crank. I also have a view of the cross section with the dimensions that may be helpful. They are from the original book when we purchased our windows for our home.

These cranks have failed over the years and most all need to be replaced. I would like to have you sent one to us if you can identify what we need in order for us to make sure of a fit. I have 33 windows and I don't want to make that big of a mistake.

I would probably need only about a dozen to start with since not all window cranks have broken. I frankly have avoided opening for fear of them breaking. If necessary I can send you one of the broken cranks. As in the picture it's the small round turning piece that just keeps going around and around. We are just outside of Charlotte NC.( a small town)

Thank you very much! I am anxious to get these things replaced. Please let me know if you need the broken crank and I will get it to you.

Sincerely, Barbara

We should be able to help, but we will need to see more of the operator in order to identify it. Your pictures only show the base. I would need you to open the window and take a top-down picture of the entire operator mechanism, including the arms.
A home owner from Weddington NC says:
I have removed the broken crank from the window and am sending you more photos.
I can send The crank on to you if you would like to have it. Would it be possible for you to repair it?
Or just make a better one or improve on the old crank? I am hopeful for the easiest or what is the best solution. Thanks so much, sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you?
Sincerely Barbara P.S. Let me know if you need more photos or want me to send the
broken crank.

Thank you! I'm afraid we cannot repair this operator. Once that worm gear has come out, there's no hope of fixing it. You will need an all new operator entirely. See our 39-031 and 39-032 and compare our dimensions to yours. I think these could possibly work as replacement.
A quick learner from WEDDINGTON NC says:
Thanks for the information. We will order these as soon as we can check our
dimensions, sometime after the Thanksgiving holiday.
Thanks again. Sincerely, Barbara
