When we try and close the window the inner mechanics come out as well. It seems like the large screw is not secure.

It sounds like your operator gears are stripped out. This can't be repaired, so you need an all new operator mechanism entirely.

We might be able to help you with this, but before I can verify I need you to remove the entire operator from the window and show me a photo of it by itself and without obstruction. I can then check our inventory for a match.
