We were able to make your recommended hinge work. The problem we ran into is that we tried only replacing one of the old hinges and it didn't work because the old hinge pivots at the back and doesn't allow the window to slide inward like the new one does. Once we replaced both hinges with your new ones the window works like new.

I didn't think to mention it at the time but it is always a good idea to replace the top and bottom at the same time to make sure that both hinges function the same way, as well as provide equal support. Thank you for following up and please let us know if you need anything else.
