Casement auger screw

Question

On one of my casement windows the auger screw is loose when you try to close the window.  It is OK opening it, but not closing it.  What holds it in?  is there a piece missing that keeps it in?  I would rather not have to replace the whole mechanism.  Thanks, and please let me know what I can do to fix this.

Unfortunately if the spline that the handle fits onto is stripped, the full operator will need to be replaced. To further review, we will need to see the window open where we can view the style of the arms. From there we can narrow down a replacement for you. Thank you!
