Casement fastener holds screen in place

Home Owner from Glenview, Ill.
The wooden-framed screen is mounted from the outside. Metal strips are installed vertically on the inside of the window frame, and when the screen is put in place the rotating metal pieces on the screen can be turned so they fall to the inside of the vertical strip. There is one on each side (left and right) and they hold the screen in place.

Hello! What you have here is a very old style design for a screen retainer. I don't think this exact style is made anymore, but the good news is that it serves a very simple function. As such, you may be able to adapt a modern part to work as a suitable replacement with just a little handiwork.

The first parts to come to mind are our 70-041 (LH) and 70-042 (RH). These work in the same way as your original: they screw to the frame, and then you rotate the tab to secure it to the window. However the design is overall very different and you'd have to check to ensure you have the room for it. Additionally, drilling new holes may be necessary.

Otherwise, you can see our full selection of metal clips here, and our plastic clips here. If you're handy then you could use any number of these parts to work on your screen. It just might take some trial and error and creative adaptation.
