Casement latch repair

Question

The casement latch is broken in the closed position. The latch handle inside the house freely moves up and down without opening or engaging the slider bar.

Here are some photographs of the internals from a window that still works. You can see the metal catches on the window itself. These come into slots on the frame when closed just above the gray plastic part in the groove on the frame. This gray plastic part is tapered and slides up behind the catch on the window and seals it against the frame as it wedges the catch up.

It looks like I *might* be able to remove the molding at the base, then remove the plastic screw covers and remove the side molding to access this mechanism. I am a little nervous about breaking the molding if I pry the wrong way?

I am a pretty adept DIYer and the homeowner here. I have called around to professional window repair folks and they shook their heads and said to contact you all?
Thoughts?

Thanks for writing in! I recognize your hardware, however, I do have a bit of bad news. We used to sell this part but it was made obsolete and we haven't been able to supply it since 2021.

I can verify that this is a Marvin brand part and there is a small likelihood that they could still have it and may even been able to supply you with the replacement. I would suggest calling them directly and letting them know you are searching for their primary sash lock.

I'm hopeful that Marvin will be able to help but I cannot make any guarantees. I do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and that, yet again, we are having to send you elsewhere to find out where you can obtain your replacement hardware.
