Casement sash stop device

Quick Learner from Georgia

Hello. I have a wooden on the inside and metal on the outside casement window. I am interested in getting a "baby lock" or sash stop device. I do not have a pocket/indention in my metal sash. So I can not use the ones that attach on the side of the window. I am looking at yours. It installs near the bottom of the window. Some questions:

Can you use it with windows that are wood on inside and metal on outside?

Will it show at all when window is closed both on inside and outside?

If fire were to occur can you push real hard and it would come off?

Would it work with Windsor casement windows?

Thanks

Erin

Thanks for posting. I assume you are looking at our 39-398 or its stainless steel version, the 39-398SS, which are both sash stops for casement windows. No, I don't believe you'd have any issue using this on windows that have a mix of wood or metal. I can't say for sure whether the limiter will show at all, or whether or not it will work for Windsor windows--it really depends on your specific window's configuration. In the event of an emergency, the 39-398 has a detach clip that can be readily removed so that the limiter becomes disconnected and the window can be used in full. On the other hand, if this window is your primary emergency escape in the event of a fire, you may want to contact a fire marshal in your area for review. I don't believe they would consider it a quick exit in case of a fire.

See the video below that shows how to install this device.
