Screws on the outside part are just a hair over 3" apart.
When I close it all the way, it seems like the gears are stripped. If I push open the window a bit, it engages.
This part finder is a very cool feature, btw.

Casement window, c. 1970s. No names or marking on base, arm or cover.

Hi there Steve.
Thank you for reaching out to us. It indeed sounds like your operator is stripped. We don't sell this exact operator though. Can you remove the operator's arm from the track and show us the end of the arm? I can't promise we'll have a suitable alternative but that detail should allow us to confirm.

Hi, Emily, here are the pix.
Absolutely no markings on either the arm or base, except "RH" on the back of the base. There's a plastic bushing in the base that holds the arm in place... seems cockeyed when the window nears closed position, which is where the stripping happens.
The end of the arm has a plastic bushing that slides along the track under the window. It's worn badly.
Looks like a 9 1/2" arm. Ellipse style (39-028E) at first glance, but my arm is offset down (unlike 39-413). But what do I know. So long as the replacement works.

I'll give it a shot, and report back once installed.
