Casement window crank failure

The mechanism works fine when opening the window because the threads draw the helical screw post into the mechanism. When when closing it, the post rides up out of the mechanism. What is supposed to hold the post in place? I cannot see that the teeth on the gears are worn. If I keep the post engaged, the window will close but if I don't keep downward pressure on it to keep it within the mechanism, it disengages. This looks to me like 39-032. Do I need to replace the entire assembly?

Thanks for posting. Yes, unfortunately, when an operator can open the window correctly but cannot close it or has difficulty doing so, this means it is wearing down and the whole assembly should be replaced. I agree the 39-032 looks best. Just make sure all the dimensions below match what you have; let me know if anything differs.
