Casement window handle shaft

Quick Learner from Pennsylvania

We have pella casement windows with crank handles. The metal shaft/screw which fits into the crank handle has worn down and it is hard to get the crank handle to fit on properly. Where might I find a replacement shaft and...is x-429 the correct handle to use?

IT is difficult to get the crank handle to fit properly over the metal shaft. Is there a way to replace the metal shaft?

Thanks for posting! I'm not sure what x-429 might refer to, I wasn't able to cross reference that number. I can tell you that the handle shown in your second photo looks just like our 39-109B Pella brand casement operator handle.

The metal shaft cannot be replaced, I'm afraid. These are machine pressed at the factory and are not meant to be removed in any way. I'm not sure why you're having trouble installing the handle, though. Can you go into more detail? Where are you running into trouble? Based on what I see, it should work.
