Casement window latch and handle

Quick Learner from Mahwah NJ
Hi Swisco!
I had my windows replaced in 2003 by a company called  Thermo Tite. This casement window needs a new latch and handle.
Any idea what part would fit?
Thanks!

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for writing in! The lever has become stripped from you lock, so the entire mechanism will need to be replaced. There is a good chance we can provide you with a replacement recommendation; although, I will need to see it removed from the window to identify it.

Take a look at the video tutorial below for instructions on how to get the lock removed from the window.

Hi Jasmine

Unfortunately, I can't open the window according to the video. I can unscrew the mechanism from the outside, but I don't want to do that until I have the replacement on hand. I need to keep the window closed and locked.

This is a photo of my other casement window, which is a mirror opposite to the broken casement window. Looking at the inside mechanism, it measures 3.5 in. from the top hook to the bottom. the latch housing is 4 in. from top to bottom.

I measured the width of the handle. It is .875 in. I took a photo of the back of the handle. Hope this info helps. Thanks for your reply and help.Best, Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the additional photos. I believe the window lock pictured here is the 38-092 RH Multi-Point Sash Lock. The left handed versions in the 38-091. To determine if this is the correct replacement for your repairs, you'll need to carefully review and compare the dimensions below.

The bracket used to secure it to the window is the 38-278 Multi-Point Lock Support Plate.
