Certainteed Balance Spring Issues

A handy person from Haiku, HI says:
We have 13 Certainteed double hung windows that will not open or close so perhaps the balance springs need to be replaced. Certainteed was bought out by plygem so possibly they will not honor the lifetime warranty. Can we buy parts from you and instructions on how to repair these windows? My husband was a general contractor so pretty handy. Thanks much. Valerie Mizner

Hello, Valerie. We do sell various Certainteed brand parts, but some other parts are no longer made, or at least unavailable to us. In order to help you moving forward, I will need photos of the precise parts in question that you are looking to replace. That way I can confirm whether or not we sell them and, if we do, how they work and install.

Thanks! See our 15-192 shoe, 15-156 cover and 15-157 bushing, and then our Series 170 coil spring. These are all Certainteed brand parts and I feel confident they will work in your window. The video below will show you how it all fits together.

We don't sell that pivot bar anymore but Certainteed made the 26-175 specifically to replace it.
