Certainteed PIvot Bar Won't Reinstall

Home Owner
I have Certainteed single hung tilt in windows. The pivot bar has come out of the pivot shoe and won't go back in. The pivot shoe is locked at the bottom of the sash channel. I don't see any coil spring. Should there be a coil spring attached to th3 pivot shoe?

Thank you for reaching out to us. It sounds like your pivot shoe is in the locked position. You'll need to unlock it by inserting a screwdriver into the cam and then rotating the cam so you can raise the shoe to remove it. If there aren't any cutouts present, you'll need to make your own as shown in the video below.

Your pivot shoe should have coil springs that attach to it. I wonder if they just snapped off. If you wanted to replace your coil springs, I will need to see an undamaged pivot shoe removed from the window. If we can identify the pivot shoe, that will tell us the coils and accessories that you'll need.

Thanks for your prompt response Emily. Do I need to replace the spring or can I just replace bent pivot bar to reinstall in pivot shoe.

If the pivot shoe and coil springs are in working order then there's no need to replace them. You can just replace the pivot bar if it's damaged or broken.
