Certainteed double hung window replacement parts

A handy person from Sea Isle City NJ says:
I spoke to one of your people this week about a Certainteed double hung window in a house in Sea Isle. He ask me to follow this procedure to get help. As I see it there are 2 issues. The piece that I have pictured is broken. I have included some other pix of the window to help identify it. Also there is the piece on the window itself that goes into the slotted pice that is broken. It is a pin like device that attaches to the window. I would like to get the replacement parts for both sides of the frame and for the window itself. Please let me know what else you need from me. Thanks

Looks like you need a new pivot shoe and, if I'm understanding you, a pivot bar. See our 15-192 pivot shoe and 26-175 pivot bar pair. These are both Certainteed brand and I am confident that they'll repair your window.

Please let me know if you had any questions.

A handy person from Sea Isle City NJ says:
Just one more question. The way that you see how the shoe broke off, is not likely that I need the whole coil balance assembly to just the pivot shoe? Thanks. Should I order the coil balance assembly to play it safe rather than get into the fix and find that I need it? Thanks for the help and guidance.

It's ultimately up to you. That kind of damage could be caused by a lot of things. A spring that no longer works is definitely on the list, so maybe it would be safe to get everything just in case.

Our 15-192 is compatible with the Series 170 coil spring. You'll need the stamp off the old one to confirm the best option, but otherwise this would be a great fit. If you have a second spring mounted above that, then that one would be our Series 171. Refer to the video below for clarification on that point.
