This is a Champion window. The balance is 27" long measured as in your video. The balance has a plastic tube around a spiral looking spring then the tube in the middle. You can see in the pictures the plastic tube is broken in picture #2 and I slid it down so you can see the spring and the blue tip. The spring looking piece is'nt a spring at all it stop in the middle, attaches to nothing.

Thanks for posting! Before I can recommend an appropriate replacement balance, can you also give me the diameter of your plastic tube?

The plastic tube is approx. 9/16. The spring looking thing is approx. 7/16. The tube under the spring looking thing is 3/8.
The 9/16 plastic tube is thin as paper, offering no strength - only there for appearance sake. You can see the tube when the window is closed(nothing covers it).

Thank you. In that case, I recommend that you take a look at our S600-27 spiral balance. Does that look about right? I would also recommend the Blue Tip to match yours. The Blue Tip can carry a window sash weight range of 12 through 31 pounds. Does your sash's weight fall within that range?
Please keep in mind that the weight range information is based on 2 balances per sash. Balances are designed assuming friction in the jamb weather-strip will carry a portion of the sash weight. Suggested sash weights are approximate.
