Channel Balance

Handy Person from palm coast, fl
I have two of the same size windows that need new channel balances. From the top and bottom hardware I've determined that it s a Series 380. The shaft is 30", but imprinted on one set it "2906" and on the other "29 9". Both have the same shaft length and hardware measurements, but I don't see those numbers in the list of stamped options. So i'm not sure which one i need to order to replace them. Thanks!

Hello,

If you're confident that the specifications of the S380-30 match your balances, you would need to weigh the window sash that the balances support to determine the correct strength option. There is a chart under the balance product description that shows the weight range supported by each option. Take a look and let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you!

I don't have access to get the weight of the sash. Would the stamped markings indicate what the spring tension?

The balance stamps would generally correspond to the spring tension but since the 29 9 stamp is from an outdated system and 2906 does not match any of our strength options, we would need to know the exact weight of the sash to determine the strength options needed for these windows.
