Channel Balance 28 9 BW BW CMC 2

Quick Learner from Virginia
This part was installed in a cabin about 2008. We just bought the property, and discovered that channel balances on both sides of this window are not working. All the other windows work fine. The channel balance is 30 inches long, including the mounts at either end. The string is broken and the pulleys are all stuck. I tried unsticking them with graphite and WD40 and neither worked. I will need to order two replacement parts, unless you have suggestions for unsticking the pulleys and attaching the string. Thank you.

Hello,

Take a look and compare the specifications of the S395-29 channel balance to your assembly. You'll also need to weigh your sash to determine which option you'll need since your stamp code is from an outdated system. There is a chart on the product page that explains how to choose your option based on the sash weight. Thank you and let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Thank you! How do I weigh the window? It seems heavy to me (that is, I can hold it up but if I hold it for a long time it becomes a strain). Any suggestions on what the weight would be? Thanks, Tom

Unfortunately, we have no way of estimating the weight of your sash but take a look at the video below that shoes the process to remove the sash. From there, you can place it on a standard bathroom scale to confirm the weight.

Thank you for your assistance. We took out the window and the weight is 33-34 lbs, so it looks like part 2860 is the correct replacement. Does that sound correct? We will order two, so they can both be replaced now.

I found a sticker at the top of the window, which I added to the post. Does this information provide any guidance on the replacement part? I didn't see a way to match these codes to what is posted on your website, but perhaps you have a way to identify the window from this sticker.

Thank you, Tom

Unfortunately, the window labels do not indicate the hardware that it uses. With that being said, you'll be good to go with the S395-29 (2860) as long as the specifications and 32 to 35 lbs weight range will work for your application.
