29DS 48L Channel Balance for a Hurricane Impact Window

Home Owner from Boynton Beach, FL

Hi,

I have a non-tilt hurricane impact window that has a block and tackle balance system. The channel balance has this code stamped on it: 29DS 48L

It's channel width is 1/2" and length of 30". I matched it to the 30" Series 380 Channel Balance (product code: S380-30). It has the same winged shoes and tops as the S380-30. However the sash weighs 59 lbs and is out of the sash weight range for stamp option 2975.

Is the S380-30 stamp option 2975 the correct channel balance to use?

Thanks,

Alex

Hey, Alex! I don't believe the 2975 stamp will work for you. That would be way too weak and your sash would probably droop down after you open it.

We should still be able to help, though. Please give us a little time to look into this extra strong spring and we'll get back to you once we have more information. In the meantime, can you just tell me how many you need?

Hello again. So, we've made some headway on this but have hit a bit of a wall. I'll need you to confirm some information before we go forward.

First, can you confirm that the sash is 59 pounds? The stamp on your old balance indicated that the springs were made to carry 48 pounds, not 59. Have you ever found that your existing balances are too week? Were the sashes perhaps hard to lift, or did they ever drift close after being opened?

We can provide you a balance with either strength (48 pounds of support vs 59 pounds) but they'll both have to be a special order. I'd like you to confirm with 100% certainty how heavy your sash is so that we know which one to go with.

I'll still also need to know how many you need.

Perfect, thank you! I'll be here at your convenience.

Hey Tom,

Thank you for your quick response!

When I get home today I'll confirm the weight and also take some pictures. Also I'd need two balances.

I'll get back to your tomorrow.
