I need to order new channel balances for a non-tilt kinco window built with BSI channel balances.

metal channel 24"L, 5/8" depth, 1/2"W
Top attachment 1 1/4"L, 11/16"Depth, 1/2"W
Bottom Shoe 1"L, 15/16"W, 1"depth
I believe it may be a S 380-23 channel balance
The window is two panes of glass and measures 50"W and 26"H. The 9 stamped on the metal channel after the 23 which indicates a 24" channel indicates a sash weight which makes no sense. It appears to be 23 followed by a space and then 9. While your documentation refers to 4 digit identification, the last two being the sash weight. This window must weight around 50 pounds. What sash weight should I order?

Hello and thanks for contacting SWISCO. Based on the length of the metal channel you've provided as well as the characteristic nylon attachments, it looks like you require the S380-24 channel balance. As far as the '9' stamp option, this comes from an old rating system no longer in use. In this case, the only way to reliably know what stamp option to select is to weigh the window sash, and then match that precise weight with one of the corresponding weight ranges for each stamp option listed on the product page.

The window sash weights 30.4 lbs. So I will order the S380-24 with the 2350 option for sash weight 23 to 27 lbs

If your sash is 30.4 pounds, then the 2350 option probably won't be strong enough to support it. I would not order anything just yet. We will have to custom make this balance with a special 2365 stamp that will carry the appropriate weight. Can you just tell me how many you need? Once I know that, I'll email you an order link and price quote for the requested quantity.
