Hello there. I'm pretty confident we can help, but I'd like to confirm a few different points of information. First, can you confirm that the fittings on all sets of balances are our 19-005 and 15-005? For the 15-005 shoe, be absolutely certain that the 1" depth (or heel-to-toe) measurement matches what you have.

Next, we need to clarify these stamp codes. A stamp of 21DS doesn't make any sense for a metal channel that is 40" long. Can you double-check both the channel lengths (do not include the nylon fittings in these measurements), and send me pictures of the stamp codes? From there, I'll see if we can narrow this down. A stamp of DS indicates a 'dual-spring' balance, which sometimes has to be custom made, but it will depend on that stamp code.

I've attached pictures of the 38 channel balance. I believe the measurements are from end to end with out the tabs. I will need to request pictures of the 40".

Well, this does indeed look like a Series 380. The only other possibility would be the Series 385, which is very similar, except it has a shoe that is 1-3/32" deep. See the diagram below, and compare both Series with your balances to confirm.

A stamp of 21DS38 should be for a balance that is 22" long, not including the nylon fittings on either end. Confirm to be sure. And yes, we'll need pictures of the stamp on the other set of balances, as well as confirmation of that length.

Okay, I think I'm clear on what we need.
182 each of 21DS-38
120 each 0f 21DS-40
the 38 and 40 is the weight not the length of metal channel which is 22".
Both top and bottom fittings are 19-005 and 15-005

Thank you,
Candace

Hey Candace. I consulted with my product director, and based on those stamps we think our S380-22 with a stamp option of 2175 should be able to replace both sets of balances you need. The 2175 stamp option will support a window sash in the weight range of 37 through 40 pounds. You can order this balance right through our online store since it's a stock item; just please allow 5 to 6 weeks for the full amount you need. Let me know if you have any other questions.
