I have hurricane impact windows throughout the house and every window has become difficult to open and close. Some balances have fallen out. I want to replace the balances with your S385-24 balance but I have 2390 stamped on plus 26 BSI VP. You do not have a 2390 option. What do you suggest?

Thanks for posting. We don't have any options that directly correspond to a stamp of 2390, and I am not sure what would work. I recommend that you weigh your window sash and compare what you get to the weight rating chart for the S385-24 to see what would be the best option.

My window sash weighs 21 lbs. What do you suggest? Right now it take a very strong person to open these windows. My wife can't do it. How easy should it be to open and close these hurricane impact windows after installing the new balances?

Have you seen the weight rating chart listed under the S385-24? I think you might want to consider our 2340 option. Two balances with that option can carry a window sash weight of 18 through 22 pounds.
Assuming the appropriate balances are installed, it shouldn't be difficult to open the windows at all.
