Channel Balance Replacement Parts

I would like to purchase 4 channel balance replacement parts for two windows I own. The metal length is 30 inches and the stamps say 29 4. Then there is a space and it says oK and then BSI perpendicular to the oK as indicated in the photo.

29 4 oK BSI

We are getting our house ready to sell and would like to make these two windows work. One does not even stay up and the other barely stays up any more. We know we would not pass a Veterans Admin. Inspection.

Hello, Michele. Thanks for posting. This looks like it could be either our S390-30 or S351-30, depending on the depth of the bottom shoe. WE have detailed dimensions on each product's store page, so you can refer to those to confirm the best match. Let me know what you think.

Hi Tom,
I finally measured the bottom shoe. I hope the photos are thorough enough for you to determine which shoe they are. I wasn't sure what direction you meant by "depth" so I took three different photos.

Also, my husband and I have discovered another part that is damaged in each window. It is a plastic part at the top of each sash on both sides of the sash. I don't know what to call it, but I have included photos of it with measurements. We have four windows that will need channel balances and the new part I just mentioned. All the windows have identical parts.

Thanks for getting back to us! The depth is displayed perfectly in your second photo there, thank you! Though, looking back at your first pictures, I don't know what I was thinking. I must have had a brain fart because your nylon fittings obviously have wings. That means that neither our S390-30 nor S351-30 will work; instead, I feel very confident that you want our S385-30.

As for the top sash guide, that's a little harder to determine. I would start by looking at our 18-188, but I highly recommend going over each dimension we show on its store page to make sure they all match up. Top sash guides are weirdly specific parts and there isn't a lot of wiggle room in terms of size. If any of the dimensions we show differs in any way, please let me know how!

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I think you are correct about the 18-188. But I have to remove it from the window again and take the measurements to compare with the photos shown in the parts store.

I have a question about the apparent "top cap" that seems to be attached to the guide. I don't see that displayed in the photos of 18-188. I am attaching a photo of an intact "cap" on top of the sash guide and a broken "cap". Are there replacements for those?

Ooooh, I see. I was thinking about that, but I thought that was just debris from the broken piece. So your top sash guide does have a top cap after all. In that case, you could consider our 18-166 instead. You'll still have to compare dimensions but this may be a little closer.

You were exactly right. The 18-166 is a perfect match for our sash guides.

I have hopefully only one more question before I am ready to place my order. Would the stamp on the metal channel of 29 4 translate to the 2940 option for ordering the S-385 channel balances?

Awesome! I'm glad the 18-166 works. As for the stamp, you're 100% right. A "29 4" translates to our 2940 option.
