Channel Balance Replacement - Rollyson Windows

A quick learner says:
Good Morning,

I am replacing channel balances on three, non-tilt single hung windows. The house is new to me but was built in 1982. I believe the windows are all Rollyson windows as they are etched with 'RO'. Unfortunately it appears as though some of the plastic balance shoes, balance tops, and top sash guides are broken but hopefully they can still be identified.

For two of the windows:
Channel Length: 29 inches
Channel Width: 0.5 inches
Balance Marked: '2830 B.S.I. MM'

For one of the windows:
Channel Length: 31 inches
Channel Width: 0.5 inches
Balance Marked: '3130 V'

I believe all of the channels use the same balance shoes and tops. From looking at your parts catalog, I believe they are close the following:

Possible Balance Shoe: 15-005 (Please see attached picture)
My only concern is that my max dimension is under 1". This seems shorter than the 15-005 but
closer than the 15-004.

Possible Balance Top: 19-037 (Please see attached picture)
However, instead of having a 'wingspan' of 1 13/32", mine is only about 1 3/16". I have
attached some pictures but it most cases, the 'wings' been snapped off. I measured the
1 3/16" from the window itself.

I will also need two top sash guides for one of the windows. I think they would be parts 18-123 and 18-124 but my example part is missing part of the plastic clip. (Please see attached picture).

Any insight you have on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Adam

Thank you for posting. I recommend that you consider our Series 371 channel balance. This appears very similar to me. As for the top sash guides, see our 18-124P.

Thank you Paul.

A bit on confusion:

My channel balance stamped 3130v (pictured above) measures 31 inches without the top and shoe. Which balance should I select as all the 31 inch models start their 4 digit stamp "30--"

Thanks again,
Adam

It's possible that your balance was once 32", but they cut it down for some reason. Maybe they were out of 31" length balances. I recommend that you weigh your window sash and compare it to the weight rating chart listed under the S371-31 to see which option would be the better choice.
