Channel Balance for Viking sash window

Quick Learner from Redding, CA
Metal piece is 29" width is at 9/16" depth is at 5/8". Stamped on back is "2820" and "B.S.I." I'm not sure if one end or the other of the channel balance has a broken plastic portion as I found the piece in Pic 9 on the window sill.

Thanks for posting. Yes, it looks like the bottom nylon fitting, or what we call the shoe, broke, hence that extra fragment in picture '9'. This is either an S351-29 or S390-29 Channel Balance. The only difference between these two balances is the depth of the bottom nylon shoe, or the 'heel-to-toe' measurement. See the diagram below for reference. Compare these options with an undamaged balance, either the other from this window or from an identical window in the house, to see which replacement matches best. In either case, for a stamp option choose 2830.

Thank you for that information. Having measured that piece on an intact window - most of these windows don't work - I believe that the S351 is the proper replacement. Just to be sure, you say to use the replacement stamped 2830, not the 2820 I found on both the pictured Channel Balance and the one I've taken off the working window?

Hello!

I apologize for the typo. Yes, you would need a 2820 stamp like your originals. This stamp option can support a 12 to 16 lb. sash. If there is any hesitance, we recommend weighing the sash to confirm this range.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi Bob:

That's incredibly helpful! I'll weight a sash today to confirm that the weight range is correct.

Thank you.
