Channel Balance stamped 4490

Handy Person from new york

Hi, this is the channel balance from a 1980's vintage window.

The stamped numbers are " 4490 34 " . The "44 " matches the measured size of the window and is consistent with the length of the channel which is 45" .

The " 90 " I believe is the weight code of " 9 " and is consistent with the weight of the sash of approx. 30# .

Do you have a series 390 channel that is 44 5/8 " to 45 " in length with the 19.002 top and and the 15-001 bottom hardware .

Thank you,

Gary

Hey, Gary. We may be able to specially make this for you. I'm a little confused by some of your details, though. You say at first that the metal channel is 45", but you also request one at 44-5/8". Can you specify what length you need? Based on the stamp, the metal channel should be 45".

Can you also tell me the exact weight of the sash, down to the ounce? Finally, how many balances did you need?

Hi...the metal channel measures 45" .

The window weights 30# 6oz .

Same windows in the same house have channel balances with the bsi code 4440 , that seems more consistent with the weight of the window .
Seems the 4490 replacement should have been a 4440 .

Perfect, thank you! That makes things a lot easier. We can specially make these balances for you, I just need to know how many you need and we can get started.
