Channel Balances

Question

Both left and right channel-balance's are disengaged from the window.  The left is all the way up to the top and firmly in place.  The left one floats up and down when I open and close the window.  It will stay with the window while opening but then fall down.  It is very loose.  I have been unable to remove the window from it's opening.

I can't be sure but it sounds like a top sash guide that holds the balance in place below the sash may be damaged on one side, causing the balance to shoot upward. If so, we should be able to help but we would need to see photos of an undamaged guide uninstalled to compare to our inventory.

If you need new balances as well, we'll also need to see detailed photos of one of them removed from the window, as well as any numbers stamped on them. See the videos we've related on this page to assist you.
