Channel Balances

A quick learner from The Woodlands, TX says:

I would appreciate your help in identifying the channel balances we need for our single hung windows (only the bottom sash moves, correct?). I think they may have been manufactured by Champion Windows in Houston who I'm told is now out of business. The only identification that we can find on any of these windows is a sticker with Champion's name on it and "Product: Series 5700 Vinyl Single Hung". Also, "NFRC ADW-1-345 10-M". There is a number stamped on the channel "2730" that's shown in the attached photos.

Our house was built in 2010 and these are, I believe. the original windows. I would be glad to look for any additional information if that would be of help.

I was able to remove the window sash after watching your videos and measured the metal channel at 28" not including the plastic end pieces. I do have additional photos, but have reached the maximum allowed by your system. Also, I will need a couple of the plastic parts that attach to the sash itself as at least one of mine is broken.

Thanks for all of your help,Thanks for your time,Joe

Hello, Joe. Based on your photos, you have either our S351-28 or S390-28. The only difference between them is the size of the bottom fitting, which is indicated on their respective store pages. Yours looks like it might be over 1", but it's a little tough to tell from your photo. I would double check just in case.

For the top sash guide, see our 18-171.

Tom,
Thanks for your help with this. It looks like the bottom piece is just over 1 inch, maybe 1 1/16", do these wear down at all? Our end parts are black if that's any help. Attached is a photo of how I measured this.
Thanks again,
Joe

They do wear down, as a matter of fact. If yours is over 1" but just shy of 1-3/32", then odds are the friction of day to day use probably wore it down just that much.
