Channel Balances for Windows

A quick learner from Houston, Texas says:
Hello,

I need to replace channel balances for 2 non-tilt windows (only up and down) so I believe I need 4 channel balances. All four current balances are broken. I see they are labeled as 27C. I was hoping you could have a look at my photos and direct me to the correct replacement product on your website as I can't seem to figure out which item I need to purchase for my windows.

Many thanks in advance.

Hello there. Based on your photos I think this is either an S351-28 or S390-28 . The only difference between these two channel balances is the depth of the bottom fitting, or the 'heel-to-toe' measurement. See the diagram below for reference. Measure the depth of your old shoe to figure out which balance you should go with. In either case, for a new stamp option choose 2730.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for the information, it's very helpful. I took several measurements of the 'heel-to-toe' measurement and my unit is in between the two options you recommended measuring 1 1/16" (see picture).

Do you have a unit that matches my measurement?

Lastly, do you offer returns or exchanges in case the product does not fit and is there a warranty on the items?

Your advice is much appreciated!

They don't make a shoe in that size, unfortunately, but I think it's reasonable to say that you had the larger 1-1/8" sized shoe that just wore down over time. The friction that comes with constant use wears on the nylon so these very likely aren't going to be the same size as they were when brand new.

We don't offer warranties, but we do accept returns. You can see our return policy here for more information.

A quick learner from Houston, Texas says:
Hi Bob,

I appreciate the clarification and information on your return policy.

Given the T&C of your policy, I wanted to be extra sure I have the right product so I removed a channel balance from one of the defective windows which seems to be in good condition. The pictures are attached.

The 'heel-to-toe' measurement on this one is closer to 1 1/8" so that is certain now.

I just wanted to confirm that the rest of the materials (hook, pullies, etc.) on my unit match the S390 unit or if anything needs to change now that you can see a completely functioning unit from my window.

Best,
Ritesh

Great! I'm glad you verified that. I feel very confident that our Series 390 is the balance you want. I see nothing else about your construction that would invalidate its use in your window. There are a few minor differences but they're just a matter of your balance being older. As long as the nylon fittings, length, and stamp all match up then you should be good to go.

Hi Bob,

I appreciate the help you provided. I've placed the order and hope it all works out.
