I'm repairing the aluminum windows on my house here in Austin, TX. Most of the 2210 channel balances I have seem to be of pretty flimsy construction inside an aluminum channel. What do you have which would replace a 2210 but be sturdier?

Hey Steve. I am confident we can help replace these channel balances, but that stamp code only tells us the strength of the spring inside the balance. To know what kind you're working with, we need to see the nylon fittings or attachments on either end of the balance. From there, we should be able to narrow down what replacements would work for you.
Hey Steve. Is the metal channel 23" long? If so, this looks like an S370-23 to me. Just look over all the specifications to confirm. You'd need a stamp option of 2210. Now, these newer channel balances should work better in general; but otherwise, we recommend lubing the window jamb with a silicone spray. This should help them move more smoothly.
