Channel balance 2210

A quick learner from Austin, TX says:

Hi there,

I'm repairing the aluminum windows on my house here in Austin, TX. Most of the 2210 channel balances I have seem to be of pretty flimsy construction inside an aluminum channel. What do you have which would replace a 2210 but be sturdier?

Hey Steve. I am confident we can help replace these channel balances, but that stamp code only tells us the strength of the spring inside the balance. To know what kind you're working with, we need to see the nylon fittings or attachments on either end of the balance. From there, we should be able to narrow down what replacements would work for you.

A quick learner from Austin, TX says:
The two photos show the end fittings. The spring are rusted and so there is resistance from it as well as from the rollers the cord rides on. I can lubricate the spring, but the rusting (and extra friction) comes from the electrical interaction with the aluminum rail. Please let me know what further information you will need.

Hey Steve. Is the metal channel 23" long? If so, this looks like an S370-23 to me. Just look over all the specifications to confirm. You'd need a stamp option of 2210. Now, these newer channel balances should work better in general; but otherwise, we recommend lubing the window jamb with a silicone spray. This should help them move more smoothly.
