I bought some Millard channel balances from you in the past, and I'm thinking they weren't the right size. I broke one trying to put it back in place and then used an original one and noticed the spring lengths are different. I've uploaded pictures of the originals, the ones I bought are 3250 (ax, if that matters). Did I buy the wrong ones? The windows with the new channel balances require a lot of work to close. Can you help me figure which ones I should buy? Thank you.
Channel balance
Hi there- thanks for posting!
So I'm not exactly sure what series you'll need since the balance is still installed in the window. I'll need to see those end attachments on either end of the metal channel to be able to recommend the correct series. In terms of the stamping on your balances, yours show stamps of "32 2" and "32 3" stamp which correlates with our 3220 and 3230 stamp options. If you selected the 3250 option then it makes sense why it is a lot of work to open the window. That is way too strong for your window.
So, can I see those nylon end attachments on either end of your metal channel? After we determine the series, it should be pretty easy to get you the right balances. You'll then need to get the weight of your bottom sash by putting it on a bathroom scale. Since you have two different stamp options we need the exact weight to determine the best strength option.
