Good morning, looking for a channel balance for my window. There are no codes or markings stamped on the existing balance. I need one for the right side of the window (as you look at the window) The existing balance is 9 15/16' metal to metal.

Thanks for your patience during this busy season. We can replace this balance, but it will have to be a special order due to its size. Would a 10" balance be okay? 9-15/16" is a bit of an awkward size and I don't think we'll be able to make it to that exact specification. 10" should work fine, but I wanted to clear it with you first.
Since there are no markings on the balance, we'll have to figure out the strength of the spring another way. Can you tell me the exact weight of the sash these balances support? That will allow us to calibrate this spring properly.
Finally, since this has to be a special order, the minimum quantity we can supply is 2. Will that be okay? We usually recommend replacing both balances on either side of a sash anyway. If a new balance is working alongside an old balance, the new balance tends to wear out more quickly since it has to pick up the slack for the other side, which has weakened over time from use.
