Channel balances

Hi
i need replacement channel balances for 2 windows. The 20 3 cp Caldwell is 21 inches and the 17 2 bp Caldwell is 18 inches ( measuring just the metal part). Both appear to be 1 3/32 at end. 2 questions: what parts do I need and should I replace both sides?

Hi there!

Thank you for waiting during this busy season. Can you show us a photo of the top fitting? We would also like to see an image of the inside of the balance’s metal channel, where the innerspring connects to the pulley mechanism; this connection is located in the middle of the channel.

Both are rusted and broken.

Thank you! I recommend the Series 385 channel balances, which have a 1-3/32" deep shoe. You can select the 2030 stamp for the 20 3 balance, and the 1720 stamp for the 17 2 balance.

It's always a good idea to replace the balances on both sides of the window. Pairing a new balance with an old one would only cause the new hardware to wear out much faster.
