Channel replacement

Home Owner from Jacksonville, FL
Good day! I am looking for a 30" channel with matching sash (take out) clips. The channel top and bottom (shoe) must be winged. My current channel isn't stamped, so I need to weigh the sash to determine strength. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for posting. This looks like either an S380-30 or S385-30. The only difference between these two channel balances is the depth of the bottom nylon shoe, or its measurement from 'heel' to 'toe'. See the illustration below for reference. Compare with your old balance to see what matches best.

Yes, to determine the stamp option, you'll need to obtain the exact weight of the sash these balances support, then match that exact weight with one of the weight ranges listed alongside each stamp option under the product description of either the S380-30 or S385-30 shop page. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hope you are well Bob! My channel's shoe is 1" so I need to obtain the S380 model. I have yet to weigh my sash to determine channel strength (e.g., 2930). However, my neighbor has channels identical to mine and he noted the stamping shown on the uploaded photo. Does the stamping indicate the strength that I should purchase? Appreciate everything and take care!

Hello again! The stamp on your neighbor's balance translates to our stamp option of 2940, which designates a balance that can support a window sash in the weight range of 23 through 28 pounds. Now, if your neighbor's balances and window are completely identical to your own, then this might indeed be the correct replacement stamp option to go with. I would still weigh your sash though just to be safe. Even if the windows are the same size, if one is of a slightly different build compared to the other, it may be a different weight, and thus require a different stamp option.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks for the kind words!
