Channels stay in place, not moving up and down with sash

Quick Learner from 90503
Hi,

Not sure what the name is of the highlighted component on the bottom of the sash, but does it help keep the channel in place and guide it up and down with the sash?

The highlighted component is from a window that still works. I have another window where this piece appears to be broken on both sides of the sash, and the channels just stay in place, on the bottom of the window, not moving up and down with the sash. Will replacing this piece solve the problem, and how do I identify it?

Thanks,

Dan

Hello,

We'd be happy to look into this for you but I'm honestly not sure what the part shown in your photo might be or what its function is. My first thought was that it could be an internal part of the sash but if all of your windows use this part to operate properly, it may be some kind of pivot or guide. To help us get started, could you tell us the manufacturer of your window? Also, what kind of balance system does in use to support the weight of the sash? The more information that we can gather, the better. Thank you!
