Clip fell out of a side to side sliding window latch

Question

My house was built in 1989, and I'm fairly certain I have the original sliding windows. You can see from the pictures attached what the latch looks like. It is about 3" long. The clip has fallen out of two of these window latches, and I have attached pictures of the clip. It is about 1

We have a 3" window lock spring, our 91-112, which hooks under the latch. Do you think you can use it?
