What size of spindle does the 40-150 handle take? Are there other options for this handle set for replacement for the 1 1/2 door thickness?

The 40-150 has an adapter which, when removed, can take a 5/16" thick spindle. Keep in mind your inside handle is a push where the 40-150 is a lever type. You could also consider replacing the complete handle set with something like our 40-058. However you will need to adapt the strike plate on the jamb to meet the inside handle and lock.
