Coil Balance Extension?

I have duel coil balance double hung window with the coil balances located at the top of the frame. My existing balances have 1 with an extension (see pictures)with a label that says 4.5 33". I've ordered the S160 coil balances but still need whatever this is. Please help! Thanks

Hmm...I don't believe the coil spring manufacturer makes this type of spring. May I see your balance set up in the window track so I can advise you?

Here's the balance set, I'm thinking of lowering the coils
under the tilt latches and using 2 S160-4 coils. Would that work?

Yes, I was going to suggest that! Very good analysis. The coil spring manufacturer suggests that, as well.
