Coil Balance for Traco window

Quick Learner from Illinois
I have Traco Vinyl Double Hung replacement windows purchased in 2000. One of the coil balances broke.  I believe I need a 161 Roller tilt cartridge but I dont know which pound rating I need to order.  The sash size is 18" W x 28.5"  What pound rating do you recommend?

Thanks for reaching out to us. Based on the design of this balance assembly, I believe that our Series 180 is the style you need. The only question is weight; my recommendation is to remove the balance assembly and look for a number printed on either the plastic housing or on the spring itself. That will tell you which Series 180 weight option is needed for your applciation.

If you can't find a stamp, or if it's too faded to read, then you will need to weigh your sash on a scale and divide that by how many springs are supporting the window. In your case, that seems to be 2.

Tom, thanks for the feedback. From the picture, it appears that I do not need a Tandem coil housing for my window.  Do you agree?

From the photos you've uploaded, it doesn't appear that your window uses a tandem housing since there is only one spring used per side.

Tom,
I was able to remove the broken coil and take a picture.  The stamp shows either 7 14v or 7 14u.  Are we looking at a 7 lb coil spring?

Yes, if the spring is stamped with the number 7, see the S180-07 7-pound spring.
