Coil Balance and Shoe Replacement

Home Owner from Staten Island NY
Hi ....my Coil balance broke in 2 of my windows, can you tell me what parts I would need to replace them. They are vinyl replacement windows about 18-19 years old. One (1) window is a living room window the other is a small 23.5X36.5 bathroom window.

Thank You

Thanks for posting! Your coil balance housing looks similar to our 15-087 coil housing pivot. Carefully review and compare the dimensions to those shown below to determine if this is the correct replacement. I am confident these are the replacement you'll need.

This housing is compatible with the Series 180 coil balance spring. To determine which spring is needed for your housing, you'll need to look for any stamps/marking on the metal coil. If there are no stamps/markings or they cannot be read and/or cross-referenced, you'll need to obtain the exact weight of the sash. Then you'll take the sash weight and divide it by the total number of coils in the window.

Thank You for the quick response.
The measurements on the housing appear accurate. The coil has no markings so I weighed it and it says it ways 13 lbs, divided by 2 would be 6.5 lbs. I don't see coils for that weight should I just get 7 lb coils?

Yes, the S180-7 will work fine as a replacement. As long as the coils are within 1lb of the window weight, the window should still function properly.
