Coil Balancer - Bathroom Window

Handy Person from Plymouth, MA
Good morning,

The coil balancers on my MI Windows in my bathroom have both snapped. One broke over the winter and it still would support the window, but now both have broke. I've uploaded pictures to help identify which parts I might need. Let me know if you need more photos.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi there Matt!

The 15-181 double support clip appears to match what you show here. This part is used with the 15-180 pivot shoe which is compatible with the S190 coil springs.

I recommend checking the band of the spring for a stamped number that may indicate the weight. If there aren't any numbers, you will have to divide the sash weight by the total number of springs.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Ok, i'll remove everything out of the window and report back tomorrow. Thanks

I took out the springs and nothing on them was stamped with any numbers. The sash weight is 10 pounds. Can you let me know all the hardware i'll need to purchase?

Thanks

If your sash is only ten pounds, you can use one 5 pound spring per side. That would be the S190-540. With that in mind you may also want our 15-186 clip, which is made for a single spring assembly. Yours uses a double spring assembly, which isn't necessary if you're only using one spring per side.
