Coil Tension springs

Quick Learner from Westchester County, New York
Trying to identify these springs that both broke on this double hung window. These were purchased at Home Depot roughly 28 years ago. The window is roughly 2 feet wide by about 3 feet tall. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Jim.

Hey Jim. We may be able to help, but we'll need you to remove the coil balance system from the window, or at least remove the sash, so we can get a clear look at the coil system and pivot shoe. That will narrow down what you need. See the guides on this page for more information.

Thank you Bob.  I will do that next week and report back.  Appreciate it!

Hello again. This looks like a 15-111 Pivot Shoe. It works with either the 1/2" thick Series 160 Coil Balance springs or the 3/8" thick Series 165 springs. You'll need to measure your old spring tape's thickness to see which you need. See the videos below that concern removal and replacement of a system like this, and also how to choose spring weights for the new coils. Let us know if you have further questions!
