Coil balance

A home owner from Delaware says:
Looking to replace broken coil balances in one of my windows but not sure which is the correct part. It looks to me like the 15-015 pivot shoe and the S150-8 coil balance. The coil balance has "840" marked on it and is 1/2" wide.

You have kind of a weird setup here. It looks like you have a pivot shoe made for spiral balances, but attached to a coil balance. This isn't typical. I can tell you right off the bat that the 15-015 is not designed to work with any coil balances. I don't know if it will work for you.

I wonder if this was a repair job that used the wrong parts, or at least whatever parts they had on hand. Do you have an identical window in the house? If so, check to see if it uses the same parts.

In the meantime, we'll keep digging into this and see if we can find something.

I agree with Tom, you have kind of a mix-and-match balance system. The 15-015 pivot shoe is normally used with the Series 600, which is a 5/8" spiral balance. If I had to guess, I think the window manufacturer was changing over to the Series 150 coil springs and continued to use the 15-015 pivot shoe.

Now, it's possible that this set up will still work, but it might be difficult too attach the spring to the pivot shoe since they weren't technically meant to work together. I would suggest using needle nose pliers to attach the coil spring to the pivot shoe.
