Coil balance broken

A home owner from Pennsylvania says:

Hello,

I'd like to replace the coil balance on my window, both sides snapped in half. Please, let me know if these pictures are not helpful and I'll try to take the parts out so I can take better pictures. Stamped with 10J

Thanks,

Lediona

Hello, Lediona. Since this is a Certainteed window, I think you should look at our 15-192 pivot shoe and Series 170 spring. You should still remove the old ones just to confirm that they match up, but otherwise there's a good chance that these are what you want.

A home owner from Pennsylvania says:
Thank you for replying. So which one of the Series 170 spring? The old one says 10J but I don't know what that means.

Bob from SWISCO responded:

That stamp refers to the weight that the coil balance is meant to support (10 lbs). 10 lb springs are no longer made for this series; but you can use on each side of the sash (1) of the S170-405 5 lb springs along with (1) of the S171-405 5 lb springs. This equals 10 lbs of support on both sides of the sash, for 20 lbs of support overall. The Series 171 is used when you need a second coil spring in this system. See the video below for details.
