Coil balances

Home Owner from Arizona
Our window spring coils broke on one side of our window. Unfortunately, I cannot find the name of the window. Photographs of the parts are included. It is both upper and lower coils.  I was hoping you had a parts kit.  Thank you.

Thanks for posting. This looks like the 15-180 Pivot Shoe, which works with Series 190 Coil Balances sold separately. For new housing, see the 15-186 and 15-182 Drums. Let me know if you have further questions about this hardware.

Thank you for the information. We are having a hard time identifying which coil to get. One coil seems like it's larger than the other. The smaller of the two coils has the number eight stamped on it. We have uploaded some additional pictures from the units on the other side of the window track that are not broken. Let us know if you can help us identify the coil springs. Thank you again.  Paul.

Hey Paul. I think it's possible this was just one coil that got torn--but even if it isn't, the coils were all likely the same size or length originally, and age and tear has just distorted them. Replacement coil balance springs are denoted by 'spring weights'. The spring weight says how much weight the individual coil spring can support. So for a spring stamped '8', you would use the S190-840 8 pound spring.

To be certain you're choosing the appropriate amount of support and springs for both sides of the sash, the best thing to do is to weigh the window sash the system supports. The video below explains more. If in doubt, give me that exact sash weight and I can work out the springs you need.
