Coil balances have snapped
Hello! Your shoe looks like an older version of our 15-180. With that in mind, I'm confident our Series 190 soil spring can replace the one that snapped.
Let me know if you have any questions!
So, the logic behind these stamps is a little goofy, but I'll try to break it down as best as I can. You'll notice that every stamp has 3 digits, and that the last two are always "40." That 40 represents the travel of the spring, which is literally just 40".
The first number represents how many pounds each individual coil can carry. So spring stamped with "440" can carry 4 pounds and has a travel length of 40".
You can usually ignore the 40, since that length works for most modern residential windows. Focus instead on that first digit. You can match it up to the number you have on your current spring, or you can weigh your sash and divide it by how many springs are used to support it. For example, if your sash is 10 pounds and has 2 springs (one on each side), you want two 5 pound springs.
