I'm instantly reminded of our 40-057. Let's start there. Can you identify any difference between our part and yours?

Thanks very much, Ben, for responding. I will forward your response to my friend and let him take things from there. The 40-057 appears to be the ticket but I can't tell from photos if the inside door latch will line up with the spring-loaded keeper. I will recommend to him ordering a new keeper as well as some shims. For around $30 he can't go wrong. Thanks again!
