Confirming 40-138 Will Work

Question

I have a Chamber Storm Door (model 62LBEL332WH). The door handle broke and I the one's at my local big box only fit doors up to 1 3/8" thick. Our door is 1 3/4" thick. Chamber Storm customer services tells me that the original hardware has been discontinued, but they can replace with a brass handle for $47.25. Before I spend that much money on something too fancy for a door that goes to our garage, I wanted to confirm whether 40-138 will fit my 1 3/4" door width.

I'm not sure if it will. The 40-138 is only designed to fit doors that are 1-1/8" to 1-3/8" thick. It may be possible if you re-use your old screws and spindle, but I cannot confirm if your old spindle will fit on our 40-138 handle.

1-3/4" is pretty thick for a storm door. You may not have a lot of options. Like I said, though, if you are able re-use your old screws and spindle then you'll have more opportunity to experiment.
