Several windows in "new to me" house have windows that do not stay open. It appears the coils could just be replaced, but if it is better to replace all these parts that may make sense. no markings on windows to indicate brand.

It looks like you have the S170-405 Certainteed coil balance spring. Check that both springs in your double coil set up are stamped with the same spring strength number. I've listed the related items should you discover that any of those need to be replaced as well.
