82-218 has metal sleeve that blocks 82-218

Hi I just order an 82-218 lock for a sliding glass door, 1416264 was the order number, the part looks correct and even if I turn it around the screw hole line up just perfect, but the door has a metal sleeve inside that is cut round and doesn?t allow the lock to go in. Can you guys help¿ thanks

I see exactly what you mean. It's like the inside of your frame has dropped out. I'm not sure why that might be, or what the solution is. Please give us a little more time to look into this and I will get back to you ASAP.

I believe that metal sleeve is a "stiffener" some manufactures use to keep the vinyl door straight. Like Tom said, it dropped down out of place for some reason. See if you can get in there with set of needle long nose pliers or even a small screw driver and try and slide it into position so you can install the 82-218 mortise lock.

Take note you might need to lay the patio door down on a set of saw horses or a work table so the metal stiffener will not slide and stay in the position you need. See our related video on how to remove a vinyl patio door.
