Correct Channel Balance

Handy Person from Los Angeles CA
1. Replacing the Channel Balance, and I believe I need S385-25. Existing Channel Balance parts are 1/2" x 25", and the bottom piece measures 1 3/32" deep. Could you please confirm or suggest an alternative?
2. The last picture showing my sash guide measures exactly as part 18-009. My question is, is it normal that the sash quide does not fill up the sash channel as it appears in the picture? Additionally, there is only one screw hole in the sash channel, and the guides have spaces for two screws. Should I tap another screw into my sash?

Thank you for your assistance.

Thanks for posting, and thanks for the thorough info. I agree, this looks like an S385-25 Channel Balance. So long as that shoe depth is greater than 1", which certainly seems to be the case in your picture, that's the best match. Let us know if you have further questions about choosing the right stamp option or anything else.

As far as the Top Sash Guide goes, it certainly looks like an 18-009, and if the dimensions match, then that's the best choice. Top Sash Guides are pretty idiosyncratic for the window sash that uses them. If there was no issues with these guides prior to the balances failing, then I'd just stick with the 18-009 and how they're installed to the sash. Don't worry about using the other mounting hole space either--some windows use them, others don't. Let us know if you have further questions.
